In late 2017/early 2018, ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development, Ontario’s largest children’s treatment centre for children and youth with disabilities and special needs, will be opening three new facilities, including a site in Oakville. A first in more than 40 years for ErinoakKids, the new sites will replace its existing 11 outgrown and outdated locations. The new buildings in Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville, will more than double its treatment space to meet the growing need for services for kids with disabilities in Peel, Halton and Dufferin County.
At approximately 79,000 sq. ft., the Oakville/Halton site is located across from the new Oakville Hospital and will serve about 5,600 (35% of all clients) children and youth each year from the Region, including Burlington, Georgetown, Milton and Oakville. It will offer a variety of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, autism services, speech and language services, infant hearing and screening services, vision services, recreation therapy, social work services, auditory verbal therapy and more!
The Ontario government has committed $50 million in funding toward the Oakville location. ErinoakKids’ In my dreams fundraising campaign is seeking to raise $3 million by December 2017 for critical programming and therapy equipment.
ErinoakKids is Ontario’s largest children’s treatment centre, serving more than 16,000 children and youth annually with physical and developmental disabilities, communication disorders, autism, blindness/low vision and hearing loss.
Longo’s $1 for $1
Longtime ErinoakKids supporters, Longo’s, has issued a Matching Gift Challenge to the community, to help raise funds for a Longo’s Family Resource Centre at each of its three sites. For every dollar donated to the Centres, Longo’s Family Charitable Foundation will match the gift, dollar for dollar, up to $750,000.
