St. John’s –Kilmarnock School (SJK) is the leading co-educational independent school in the Waterloo and surrounding region. Established in 1972, the School is located on a beautiful 36-acre natural campus. It offers enriched educational programming for students from JK – Grade 12 through its accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
In an increasingly globalized world, many are beginning to opt for an approach to learning that embraces a global perspective and exposes students to the reality of a connected planet. Assignments that go beyond the textbook and classroom as well as progressive approaches to teaching and learning are hallmarks of an IB continuum education.
At SJK, students exceed expectations in an environment where they are engaged, understood and supported. Specialized teachers, lower student teacher ratios and involvement of parents as partners in education, result in individualized attention for students and the guidance they need to reach their fullest potential.
Teachers at SJK have the freedom to pursue innovative approaches to learning and collaborating, in technology-rich environments, which equip students with a new kind of thinking for a new kind of world. Students learn through inquiry-based instruction where they are encouraged to be knowledgeable, inquirers, communicators, open-minded, risk-takers, and principled – to name some of IB’s Learner Profile Attributes.
A dynamic and diverse co-curricular program helps develop the whole child and extends learning beyond the School’s gates. Students have the opportunity to try new things, discover their passions and learn the value of different perspectives and cultures. Travel abroad, experiential learning and service projects are part of the learning experience offered through the global classroom.
At SJK students find their excellence within, love to learn, and graduate as confident, well-rounded individuals, fully prepared for post-secondary education and life beyond.
The journey begins here.
