BONNIE CROMBIE MAYOR OF MISSISSAUGA

In Mississauga, we are building back to better. Our City, our people, and our business community are strong, resilient and have proven that by working together we can overcome any challenges we face.

Over the past year, we have seen the true spirit of Mississauga come alive. Residents and businesses from every corner of our City have stepped up to help one another in this time of need. Our businesses have readjusted and reinvented themselves, and despite these challenging times, our economy continues to thrive. From retooling manufacturing lines to developing new technologies like thermal screening, ventilators, or face masks to enhance accessibility, this pandemic has solidified what we have known for some time: Innovation thrives in Mississauga.

It is thanks to our highly skilled, creative and talented workforce that Mississauga truly shines, ensuring we remain a place where businesses have the confidence to invest, scale-up and thrive. Coupled with our City’s strong and stable fiscal management, including maintaining a ‘Triple A’ credit rating for 17 straight years, Mississauga’s future remains as bright as it is limitless.

As we look to the future, I want to ensure residents and businesses that we have a strong recovery plan in place that will ensure Mississauga remains a top destination to live, work, visit and invest. We are ready for what’s next.

In the months and years to come, we will continue to make progress on key city-building initiatives including building a vibrant downtown and working to redevelop and reanimating our waterfront into a sustainable hub for culture, tourism, innovation and employment for generations to come.

Another key part to our recovery efforts will be building regional transit to get people moving and connect them to jobs and prosperity. Earlier this year, we broke ground on the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT), a project that is critical to the future success of our City that will create thousands of jobs, support new housing and business opportunities, and form the north- south spine of a regional transit system. People never stop moving and so our work to build transit never stops either.

As the saying goes, tough times don’t last but tough people do. The same can be said about our City, our people, and our vibrant business community. The next time you are out exploring, please make sure to shop and buy local by supporting Mississauga Made products, services and businesses.

Together, we will build back to better and emerge stronger than ever before. If your business is considering relocating to Mississauga please visit Mississauga’s Economic Development Office to learn more.
