Skilled Employment Base is Expecting Major Growth Burlington, ranked at #5 by MoneySense Magazine (2014) as the best medium -sized city in all of Canada, is one of the thriving cities located in the Regional Municipality with a population of 183,0001 (Statistics Canada, Census 2016).

By 2031 the city expects significant growth in the employment base, with more jobs in value-added service sectors. “Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade and Finance & Insurance are highly concentrated in Burlington. They are fundamental to the economic development for the city”, says Shalini da Cunha, Executive Director, Peel-Halton Local Employment Planning Council.

Burlington is well connected with key transportation routes, including the highways that connect the city with both national and US markets, cargo rail network, access to the international airports. To meet the future challenges of the growing population, Burlington is working on a Go Bold Plan – a transportation plan that is built around eight new directions for the City of Burlington.

The rich economic environment of the city has attracted high profile businesses. To name a few, Burlington is proud to house Hunter Amenities International, National Tire Distributors, Siemens Canada Limited, Comtek Advanced Structures Ltd.
