Personalized Pathways of Excellence Designed for Girls
At St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School in Oakville, girls from Preschool to Grade 12 experience an enriched academic and co-curricular program delivered by teachers who are experts in educating girls. We support each girl’s interests, talents, learning needs and strengths, and our world-class facility and signature programs equip her to achieve excellence in whatever path she chooses.
Global Studies
As part of our Global Studies program, girls explore and connect with communities – local and global – through experiential learning trips, community service, cultural exchanges and international student leadership opportunities. Our students have explored the far reaches of the earth, including India, Bhutan, Japan, China, Singapore and Australia, to name a few, as active community members and global citizens.
Professional Internship
In Grade 11, every SMLS student participates in a month-long, workplace experience that is customized to her personal career interests. Girls gain valuable, professional experience that not only provides them with insight into their specific career choices but also sets them apart as they pursue their career goals.
Robotics and STEM Education
Our senior robotics team, SWAT 771, holds the title of being the first Canadian all-girls team and remains the only Canadian team to win the prestigious World Engineering Inspiration Award at the FIRST Robotics World Championships. Girls from Grades 1 to 12 to participate in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) challenges and are actively encouraged to pursue their individual passions in STEM learning and careers.
Creative Arts
Arts education develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, innovative thinking and self-discovery. At SMLS, girls receive a wide range of experiences in the arts, including dramatic and theatre arts, instrumental and vocal music, visual art and communication technology.
Active, Healthy Living for Girls
As part of their SMLS education, girls of all ages participate in outdoor education, physical fitness, creative expression and spiritual reflection.
